The House of Seraphin has been ruling Sundaril since 943 C.E. The Seraphins of the present are descended from Duke Luke Seraphin and his wife Lady Isabella Gavlin. They are characterized by their black hair, dark blue eyes, and pale skin. Their motto is "Stability in Heaven."

The last three Marquesses died tragically: consumption, murder, and alcohol poisoning This has left the estate in the hands of the son of the late Princess Aoife.

In fact, Isabella Seraphin, the mother of the first Seraphin king as well as the mother to a queen of Farengalia, was a Gavlin.
